Rep. Pete Aguilar, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 33rd district since 2015, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legislative developments and national celebrations. Aguilar shared his concerns about the potential impact of the Republican-backed legislation, referred to as the “Big Ugly Bill,” on his constituents and others across the nation.
On July 3, 2025, Aguilar expressed his opposition to the proposed bill through a tweet stating that “Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will force thousands of our neighbors in the Inland Empire off their health insurance and it will get harder for people to put food on the table.” He mentioned standing with Rep. Jeffries who shared a local story on this issue in Congress.
Later that day, Aguilar reiterated his stance by announcing that he voted against the bill. He criticized it for potentially removing health insurance from millions while offering tax breaks to billionaires. He tweeted, “I just voted NO on the Republican Big Ugly Bill that kicks 17 million people off their health insurance while giving out tax breaks to billionaires.” He also noted that contrary to promises made by Republicans to lower costs, this bill could increase expenses related to healthcare and utilities.
On July 4th, Aguilar shifted focus from political discourse to celebrating Independence Day. In a festive message posted online, he wished everyone a safe holiday: “Happy Fourth of July! I hope you and your loved ones have a safe and fun holiday as we celebrate our nation’s independence.”
Aguilar was born in Fontana, California in 1979 and currently resides in Redlands. He is an alumnus of the University of Redlands where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001.
