Rep. Pete Aguilar, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 33rd district since 2015, used his social media platform on January 28 and 29, 2026, to address recent political violence and call for reforms within the Department of Homeland Security.

On January 28, Aguilar expressed concern about an incident involving Rep. Ilhan Omar: “I’m thankful my friend Ilhan Omar is safe after being attacked at her town hall. The person responsible must be fully prosecuted.

Political tensions are at an all time high, yet Trump continues his hateful comments toward her.

Enough. This must be condemned by everyone.” (Posted January 28, 2026)

Later that day, Aguilar announced a press conference outside an ICE field office in San Bernardino alongside Representatives Mark Takano and Raul Ruiz. In his tweet he stated: “WATCH LIVE: I’m holding a press conference with @RepMarkTakano and @RepRaulRuizMD outside an ICE field office in San Bernardino to call out DHS’s brutality and demand the removal of Kristi Noem.” (Posted January 28, 2026)

On January 29, Aguilar reiterated his concerns regarding leadership at the Department of Homeland Security: “Sec. Kristi Noem’s Department of Homeland Security is out of control and endangering lives.

@RepMarkTakano, @RepRaulRuizMD & I held a press conference in front of the ICE office in San Bernardino to demand the removal of Kristi Noem and serious reforms at the agency.” (Posted January 29, 2026)

Aguilar has represented California’s 33rd District since replacing Gary Miller in Congress in 2015. Born in Fontana in 1979 and currently residing in Redlands, he graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001.
