Rep. Pete Aguilar, who represents California’s 33rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media between April 7 and April 8, 2026, addressing local economic challenges, national political issues, and infrastructure funding.
On April 7, Aguilar discussed the impact of recent economic policies on small businesses. He wrote: “Rising costs from tariffs and the war with Iran are hurting local businesses like Anita’s Mexican Foods. I visited Anita’s, where I heard how reckless economic policies have made everything from diesel for delivery trucks, tortilla chip packaging, to their ovens more expensive.”
Later that day, Aguilar commented on the conduct of then-President Donald Trump regarding foreign policy in Iran. In his post he stated: “Donald Trump is batshit crazy and out of control. Republicans need to stand up and join Democrats and hold the President accountable for his sick and reckless war in Iran.”
On April 8, Aguilar announced new federal support for transportation projects in his district. He said: “Everyone in the Inland Empire needs a safe, reliable way to travel. That’s why I am proud to deliver $2 million for @goSBCTA to enhance transportation safety and connectivity by building over five miles of protected bike and pedestrian pathways between Highland and Redlands.”
Aguilar has served as a member of Congress since replacing Gary Miller in 2015 as representative for California’s 33rd District. Born in Fontana in 1979, he graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001 and currently resides in Redlands.
