Between July 14 and July 20, 2025, a coordinated crime suppression effort named Operation Consequences was conducted by multiple law enforcement agencies. The operation took place in Apple Valley, Victorville, and Hesperia. Agencies involved included the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, San Bernardino County Probation, California Highway Patrol, Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and the San Bernardino Police Department. Additional support came from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division and various local police departments.
During this period, six search warrants were executed across the mentioned locations. Authorities arrested 38 individuals on felony charges and made 49 misdemeanor arrests. Among the items seized were suspected methamphetamine and heroin as well as 49 firearms, including four ghost guns.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts following the passage of Proposition 36 by California voters on November 5, 2024. This proposition aims to address issues related to homelessness, drug addiction, and theft by reforming laws previously established under Proposition 47. Proposition 36 allows for enhanced sentencing for certain offenses and prevents offenders from being released before their court appearances.
Funding for these operations has been authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to enhance law enforcement services addressing quality-of-life issues within the county.
Operation Consequences will continue over several months with a focus on targeted crime suppression operations in High Desert areas and other jurisdictions around San Bernardino city. The goal is to reduce violent crime rates by targeting criminal street gangs and individuals illegally possessing or trafficking firearms.
