Between June 16 and June 22, 2025, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, alongside various law enforcement agencies, conducted Operation Consequences. This initiative led to the arrest of 24 suspects and the recovery of five firearms across several locations in San Bernardino County.
The operation involved personnel from the Gangs/Narcotics Division, patrol stations, and other local law enforcement bodies such as San Bernardino Probation, San Bernardino Police Department, California Highway Patrol (CHP), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The focus was on gang members and individuals prohibited from possessing firearms. During this period, investigators seized suspected methamphetamine and made a total of 10 felony arrests along with 14 misdemeanor arrests.
The operation is part of a broader effort following the passage of Proposition 36 by California voters on November 5, 2024. Known as “The Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act,” this proposition came into effect on December 18, 2024. It introduces new Penal and Health and Safety Codes that can be applied during arrests to enhance sentencing options. Two arrests made during Operation Consequences were subject to these new provisions.
Funding for county-wide crime suppression was authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to enhance law enforcement services addressing quality-of-life issues within the community. Operation Consequences will continue over several months with a focus on reducing violent crime in the High Desert area and surrounding regions under the Sheriff’s jurisdiction.
