On May 27, 2025, Marco Antonio Paez, a 22-year-old resident of Ontario, California, violated his house arrest conditions. Paez was part of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Electronic Confinement Program and was serving a 120-day sentence for possession of stolen property.
The court had ordered Paez to wear an electronic GPS monitoring device on his ankle. However, on May 27 at approximately 10:57 p.m., the Satellite Tracking of People (STOP) monitoring center alerted deputies about a tamper notification from Paez’s device. Investigations revealed that Paez had removed his ankle monitor and left his residence during prohibited hours. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued.
On May 29, at around 9:02 a.m., deputies from the Work Release division and the Rancho Cucamonga Multi Enforcement Team executed the arrest warrant at Paez’s residence. They found him hiding in a vehicle behind the house and subsequently arrested him. He was then booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors authorizes a Work Release program allowing inmates to engage in manual labor to maintain public facilities while maintaining family ties and work commitments. Inmates can also participate in the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center’s Electronic Confinement Program (ECP), which requires adherence to California State Laws for community safety.
