Man killed in intentional hit-and-run in Morongo Valley

A man was killed in Morongo Valley after being intentionally struck by a vehicle on Monday evening, according to authorities.

Deputies from the Morongo Sheriff’s Station responded to an incident at the intersection of Hess Boulevard and Senilis Avenue at approximately 7:38 p.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) had initially been dispatched for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian and possible hit and run. After arriving on scene, CHP determined that the victim had been deliberately hit by the vehicle and requested assistance from sheriff’s deputies.

The victim was identified as Christopher Garcia, 50, a resident of Morongo Valley. Paramedics from the Morongo Valley Fire Department pronounced Garcia deceased before deputies arrived.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail took over the investigation. The suspect remains unknown, and the case is ongoing.
