Homicide investigation initiated after man found dead in Victorville park

A homicide investigation is underway in Victorville following the discovery of a deceased man at Village Park. On May 30, 2025, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a call at approximately 6:19 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Robert James Smith, a 40-year-old resident of Adelanto, on the ground by his vehicle with gunshot wounds. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigation Division’s Homicide Detail has taken over the investigation. The identity of any suspect or suspects remains unknown at this time. “Additional information will be released when available,” stated officials.
