Hesperia family dispute leads to fatal shooting; sheriff’s homicide detail investigates

Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to a shooting on August 6, 2025, in the 9800 block of Third Avenue in Hesperia. Authorities arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a male subject who had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found Anthony Lopez-Rodriguez, 37, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel attempted lifesaving measures, but Lopez-Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations – Homicide Detail took over the investigation. Detectives determined that a physical altercation between family members occurred before the shooting. Both Lopez-Rodriguez and Danny Vicente, 36, were armed during the incident. According to investigators, Vicente fired his weapon and struck Lopez-Rodriguez.

“A report was taken and will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.”
