Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department are investigating two homicides that occurred at separate locations in Adelanto on April 1. The department said the incidents are believed to be connected and are being treated as a single case.
The investigation began after deputies responded to reports of gunfire at about 9:05 p.m. in the 11700 block of Chamberlaine Way, where they found Angelo Chaparro, an 18-year-old resident of Adelanto, with multiple gunshot wounds. Chaparro was transported to a hospital but later died. Around the same time, deputies also responded to a medical aid call in the 10400 block of Cimmeron Trail Drive and discovered Elias Alonso, a 33-year-old resident of Adelanto, who had also been shot. Alonso was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail has assumed responsibility for the case. Detectives say they believe both shootings are related and urge anyone with information about these incidents to contact their office or use anonymous reporting options provided by We-Tip or online platforms.
