A man was found dead in the roadway in Wonder Valley on April 10, and detectives later determined he had been murdered in Highland. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that a citizen discovered the victim, a 60-year-old transient from Highland, partially sitting in an overturned wheelchair on Gammel Road.
The case is significant as it highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address violent crime and protect community safety. The department said its Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the scene and observed trauma to the victim’s body, quickly determining that he had been killed elsewhere before being left on the road.
Detectives identified Jimmy Rodriguez, a 38-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, as a suspect. Through their investigation, they learned that Rodriguez and the victim were involved in a physical altercation in Highland which led to the victim’s death.
