Deputies respond to armed suspect during domestic disturbance in Lucerne Valley

Deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a domestic disturbance in Lucerne Valley early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on the 8700 block of Syracuse Road.

Upon arrival, deputies observed several individuals arguing in the street. As they began detaining those involved to investigate, Sydney Zimmer, a 21-year-old resident of Lucerne Valley, approached holding a shotgun. According to authorities, Zimmer did not comply with repeated commands from deputies to put down the weapon. A lethal force encounter followed, and Zimmer was struck multiple times.

Deputies provided medical aid until emergency personnel arrived. Zimmer was then transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division has taken over the investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Specialized Investigations Division at 909-890-4904.
