Deputies respond to Apple Valley incident involving lethal force encounter

On February 24, 2025, deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to a 911 call at a residence on the 10700 Block of Central Road in Apple Valley. The caller reported a Black male wearing black clothing attempting to break into her home. Upon arrival, two deputies detained a Black male in the driveway who claimed residency at the location.

The deputies requested that the caller exit the residence. Shortly after, three occupants exited quickly, followed by Elijah Brown, an 18-year-old resident of Apple Valley, armed with a large knife. A lethal force encounter ensued, and Brown was struck by gunfire. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division has taken over the investigation. Brown’s involvement remains unclear as he has not yet been interviewed. The investigation continues.
