In Barstow, California, two individuals have been arrested in connection with a drug smuggling operation at the High Desert Detention Center (HDDC). The investigation began in early May 2025, focusing on an inmate, Brandon King, who was allegedly orchestrating the introduction of narcotics into the facility with the help of Leticia Juarez.

On June 4, 2025, authorities apprehended Leticia Juarez in Barstow. Both she and Brandon King face felony charges for conspiracy and smuggling controlled substances into a correctional facility.

The detention staff continues efforts to prevent illegal drugs from entering the jail system. “These ongoing efforts are critical to maintaining the safety and security of both staff and inmates and to reducing drug-related incidents and overdoses within the facilities,” stated officials. The Detentions and Corrections Division remains dedicated to keeping jails free from drugs.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division encourages anyone with information about these incidents to call them at (909) 387-3727. Anonymous tips can be submitted via We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME(27463) or through their website www.wetip.com.
