The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported on May 2 that a lethal force incident occurred after deputies responded to an assault call in the 9000 block of Whitehaven Road, Oak Hills. Deputies arrived at approximately 6:30 p.m. following reports that Anthony Gerard Tevis, a 67-year-old resident of Oak Hills, had assaulted a female victim with a rake and was believed to have a firearm at the residence.
The incident escalated when Tevis drove his vehicle at high speed toward three sheriff’s deputies and the female victim. Deputies then used lethal force, striking Tevis with gunfire. After the vehicle stopped, deputies provided immediate life-saving measures until emergency medical personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived and continued care. Tevis was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
